Course objective
The objective for this project was to design and build a speaker set that was fully functioning. I took this a step further by designing and developing a product based on the origin of sound, namely by designing a sound system based on the combination between surface, shape and material.
Inizio is a sound system that fills the room with a full vibrant sound obtained from a set of forms inspired by nature and its shapes that blends seamlessly into contemporary modern interiors. This design brings sound back to its emergence.
This sound system is able to excite vibrations through ideal shaped surfaces in order to produce numerous melodic frequencies. The translation of this physical fact causes a unique listening experience, in which the human perception and the origin of sound meet again.
Design
The ice-white panels blend into the interior, but due to the stand the panels are presented as a worthy interior object and it becomes a characteristic artistic element. The combination of organic forms inspired by nature and the natural stained maple wood bring together the industrially designed form language and real natural elements.
The red colored detachable cables give emphasis to the functionality of the product besides the aesthetics which is as important as the design.
Sound
The 2.1 sound system consists of two sound exciters mounted at an asymmetrical position on the back of the panels. The subwoofer is mounted on the bottom of the amplifier compartment. The shapes of both the panels and the subwoofer are optimized in a way that all frequencies can translate into the best possible reproduction of sound. All frequencies of the sound are covered by the drivers and translated into vibrations within the material. The form and properties of the components have been carefully selected and designed so that the installation allows the musical experience to be heard optimally.
